Georgetown
I teach in the Landegger Program in International Business Diplomacy.
Beginning Spring 2021, I launched a new course offering (GBUS 401) on “Big Data in Business, Economics, and Society”. Georgetown students who are interested can find a copy of the syllabus here.
In Spring 2024, I am teaching GBUS 4401 “Foundations in Data Science”, which is based on a similar syllabus. This course provides an introduction to data science and its applications in business, economics, and society. This course teaches a foundational set of tools for data analysis and exposes students to critical thinking required for interpreting results. Students will learn relevant algorithms and techniques for data analysis through examples drawn across the social sciences. This class features a significant “hands-on” component as well as live classroom discussion, including guest speakers across business, academia, and government. We will dedicate time to learn how to code up statistical estimators and algorithms as well as understand the theory behind them. The course is targeted towards students who have taken one semester of introductory statistics or econometrics at the college-level.
